Yui Sakagoshi is a Japanese saxophonist and performer based between France (Lyon) and Japan (Osaka). 

With a strong stage presence, she conveys her energy through her body, voice and instrument. Her creativity and passion for new sound arts drive her to create new works and collaborations with various artists from different fields such as dance, theater, fine art, circus, among others.

Her expression is diverse, and she actively performs in a wide range of performing arts fields, collaborating with composers and engineers on experimental works that incorporate improvisation, gesture performance, and physical expression using new technologies.


An active performer of new music, Yui has created new works with many composers from around the world, such as Clara Olivares, Damian Gorandi, Antonio Tules, Osamu Kadowaki, Carlos D. Perales, Chatori Shimizu, Sami Naslin, Vladimir Tarnopolski, Friso Van Wijck, and Mogens Christensen.


As an international musician, she has performed at numerous contemporary music festivals and events, such as Festival Détours de Babel (Grenoble), Festival Les Fabricants (Oullins), Festival Moscow Forum (Moscow), Festival DME (Seia), Conference Framing the Normal, Festival Mapping Me! (Medina del campo), 14th CMMR (Marseille), 13th Stockhausen Memorial Concert (Kürten), Hommage à Jean-Claude Risset organized by CDMC and GREAM (Paris), and the World Saxophone Congress (Strasbourg, Zagreb).


Currently, she is performing with the contemporary circus company Max&Maurice in the show "De A à Zèbre" and has also performed at festivals such as Le Mans fait son Cirque, Festival Second Geste, and Festival Les Franciscaines.


Yui is a member of ensembles specialized in new music, such as Ensemble ORBIS (Lyon) and False Relationships and the Extended Endings Ensemble (Strasbourg - Basel - Friburg). She is also an active member of a research group called College Contemporaine (Paris).


In 2019, Yui received a performance award from the Karlheinz Stockhausen Foundation. She is also a winner of a grant from the Société Générale Foundation C'est vous l'avenir 2021/2022 and the ADAMI Foundation.

大阪音楽大学サクソフォン科を首席で卒業。オルネースボア音楽院、ストラスブール高等音楽学校を経て、2022年リヨン国立音楽院第三課程 Artist Diploma 現代音楽創作科を初の日本人として修了。



2022年、Festival Détours de Babel « Les Chantiers » に選出され、現代社会におけるアイディンティーの有り方を問う自身初の創作音楽舞台作品 « Au milieu de » (英訳:The In-Between) を同音楽祭にて初演。斬新的なシナリオ、サクフォンに宿すエネルギー、繊細なジェスチャーパフォーマンスが好評を博した 。


これまでに Festival Musica(ストラスブール)、Festival POTE(ブザンソン)、ワールド・サクソフォーン・コングレス(ストラスブール、ザグレブ)、日本現代音楽協会主催 « 現代の音楽展 ショートコンサートピース展 »(東京)、K. シュトックハウゼン・メモリアルコンサート(キュルテン)などに出演。2020年、Ensemble Intercolor による過去と現在の女性作曲家に焦点を当てたプログラム « Illuminées » のリサイタル全編がフランス国営ラジオ・France Musique にて放送された。KOBE Re: Public Art Project 2022 レジデント・アーティスト。


2019年カールハインツ・シュトックハウゼン財団より演奏賞を受賞。Société Générale財団、並びにADAMI財団奨学生。仏・リヨンに拠点を置く実験的創作音楽アンサンブルグループ Ensemble ORBIS サクソフォニスト。 Collectif LiSiLog 登録アーティスト。日仏現代音楽協会会員。

2019年よりコンテンポラリー・サーカスカンパニー Max&Maurice による創作舞台 « De A à Zèbre » に出演中。
